Now, to start the conversation off, tell us a little bit about how horses first became part of your life.

Well, I basically came from a non-horsey family, and I had an obsession with horses from the moment I saw one.

So it was a little bit hard on my parents living in a little city, really, and no horses around.

[laughs] So I just basically became very good at stalking from the age of, like, nine years old, and found a pony stud not too far from my... where I lived in town, about a 10-minute bike ride.

Stalking paid off, and every Friday night after giving the pony all my chocolate and things that probably ponies shouldn't eat on the side of the road, the owner came, Nola Ellis, and asked me if, A, I'd stop feeding the ponies chocolate, but if I'd like to have a ride on one of the older ponies.
