And I came to realize a little more where I'm living, what my environment is, how I have to think about it.
And I thought I'd open the program talking to you about that, even though you don't all live on mountainous areas.
There are things you have to learn to be careful about, to respect about other people, other people's place in the family world you live in.
And, uh, one of the letters I got yesterday was in response to a call where a guy was having his 52nd birthday, and his dad and his stepmother wanted to take him to dinner.
Still go to the place he wanted to go 'cause it was his birthday? 52 years old, okay? Just wanna reiterate that.
I asked him, "Is it really so important to you To make one of the people, your father, your sister, your stepmother, unhappy knowing you intentionally went out of your way to make them uncomfortable? So I got a letter going, "Oh, I never would have thought you would have answered it that way.
I would have thought you said it's your birthday, you ought to do whatever you want, and people have to tolerate that." What the hell is in somebody's mind to say that? You're in the ocean, there are sharks.
[laughs] And you have to decide what do you wanna do to live well in the circumstance? So being more aware and being more thoughtful.
What kind of birthday dinner would it be when your dad and his wife are sitting there knowing you went out of your way to hurt her? With your sister sitting there going, "Oh, God, there's gonna be a problem." That's how you wanna celebrate your birthday or go someplace everybody would enjoy.
As they say, don't poke the bear, don't poke the snake, don't [laughs] poke the shark.
My other house, I had a gorgeous, huge mountain lion walk across my front lawn.
