We've got plenty of potential here in New Zealand and we just need to work on how we actually untap that or unlock it.

I've noticed over the years, during COVID, I was absolutely blown away with what my kids were learning at school and really actually more what they weren't learning at

My son was meant to be a math genius at school, put it, but we found out quite quickly he couldn't do some of the basics.

It was about eight at the time and we spent most of COVID doing basic mathematics and, you know, playing games like Uno, just having fun.

And a lot of parents, both of us are working nowadays, it's really hard to keep tabs on what is happening in the classroom.

And there's a lot of noise around education when you think of like coming from teachers and unions and and the government, to be fair, and the ministry.

But there's not a lot of voice for the parents, and I really wanted to bring in the voice of parents when I came into Parliament.

And knowing what your kids are learning in school and having some kind of input or direct line into how we can actually shape the next generation I think is really critical for me.
