25th Thursday in Ordinary Time - Year A

There were, and continue to be, many different responses to the person of Jesus.

Some believe and fall on their knees in front of the Lord and confess Him as the divine Son of God, as He truly is.

Others deny Him.

Others walk the other way.

Others sort of shrug their shoulders.

Today, Herod the tetrarch gives another response to Jesus.

He is per- greatly perplexed, as the Gospel says.

He's confused.

He's curious, but he can't understand.

And it is this lack of understanding that hardens his heart, ultimately, towards the saving message of Jesus.

There are many similar kinds of responses in today's world to the person of Jesus, but the only possible response, in order to gain salvation, is to believe that Jesus is who He says He is, that He is the divine Son of God, come to redeem the world from sin, that He has died on the cross, risen from the dead, ascended into heaven, and will come to judge the living and the dead at the end of time.

This is who our Lord is, and this is the Lord we want to present to those around us, and to those who perhaps are perplexed, or confused, or have questions.

We want to bring them to the source of the truth, the Gospel.
