Continued Review of the CPS Elections - How You Can Prepare for the 2026 Midterms

But we do have some news mainly about the election, but before we get to all that, we do want to give a shout-out to the North Lawndale College Prep girls' flag football team.

According to WBEZ, the Lady Phoenix got a pleasant surprise last week from the Chicago Bears.

On September 30th, the Bears donated cleats, sweatbands, gloves, flags, and other clothing items to the Lady Phoenix as they got ready to play the King College Prep Jaguars in the playoffs this Unfortunately, the Lady Phoenix will go on to lose to King 59-6 on October 5th, but I'm sure the memories that they had from the Bears will last.

In addition to getting gear, the Bears and the McCaskey Foundation also made a $1,000 donation to the Lady Phoenix flag football program.

The Bears and the Chicago Public League launched a pilot girls' flag football program in 2021, featuring nearly two dozen teams from the city.

After a couple of years of moderate expansion, the Illinois High School Association officially sanctioned it in 2024.

So now teams compete from across the state with sectional playoffs beginning on September 30th, and they go through October 17th, championship games at Willowbrook High School.

um larry smith who's the bears youth and high school football coordinator said that women's flag football will be an olympic sport in 2028 and the nfl is currently working on a pro flag football league that'll be launching in the next maybe five years he says pro flag football that's interesting um so women's sports big up on women's sports which uh they're finally getting their due.

I was looking at a few WNBA playoff games over the weekend.

And I mean, the crowd, you couldn't tell that it wouldn't, you couldn't tell the difference with the crowd between an NBA game or WNBA game because the stadium was full.

It was energy.

I thought I was looking at an NBA game.

So it's crazy how what two or three years can make when it comes to the popularity of a

sport.

I just hope that...

Well, I don't think...

I was going to say they...

They make a lot of stuff.

They made breakdancing an Olympic sport.

I don't know if

you knew that or not.

Yeah, that was a playoff

show.

Yeah, don't do that.

But there's actually a documentary on Netflix about the white lady, the Australian lady who represented, I forget her name, Australia.
