NDP leader David Eby calling on Conservative interim leader Lauren Dirksen to fire his party's campaign director for comments that called Islam an abhorrent ideology.

Eby, who was speaking on the island this morning, says Dirksen must remove his campaign director for her comments related to the release of a report from the leader of the anti-immigration Restore Britain party.

When Eby was asked why he's calling for the removal of a person who's not on the ballot, here's what he had to say in Courtney this morning.

Why would the leader of the

party, who just said that he will not tolerate hate, tolerate hate from the head of his campaign? either he removes her or he very clearly would only remove a candidate where they didn't stand a snowball's chance in hell of winning.

The Conservatives campaign director says she has taken down her social media posts saying her anger was directed at the extremism used to justify these horrific crimes not at Muslims or their faith.

She says on social media that as a woman and rape survivor she was brought to tears reading the report.

Lauren Dirksen and the B.C. Conservatives were in Richmond late this afternoon.

Dirksen touring a local business there while promising a youth jobs plan with a first job tax credit rewarding businesses who hire young British Columbians for their first time jobs.

Now, the B.C. Greens.

They took their campaign to Gabriola today while announcing a plan to pass a new fossil fuel royalty system they say will generate $4 billion annually by taking aim at fossil fuel corporations with a windfall profit.

Now, David Eby is spending more time on the island today as well, and it will be a battleground for the NDP as the Conservatives are looking to crack the Orange Fortress the NDP has held for so long.

The Conservatives are not the only party the NDP has to worry about if they're looking to try and secure another majority or even minority government.
