Why The Chaney Pod — Our Origin Story and What’s Ahead

Well, as you know, and we want to relay this to everybody who's listening, we did not want to do this without the blessing of John Chaney's family.

And that meant going to his daughter-in-law, Maria Chaney, and his son, John Chaney Jr.

If you've ever met them, you know that they are incredible, incredible people.

And if you've met John Jr., I'm sure I'm not the first person to say this to him.

It is like having... a conversation with John Chaney himself.

I mean, his voice, the way he carries himself, it is really, it's enough to make you kind of emotional thinking about it, you know? And they have been so kind and gracious with us.

And like I said, we wanted to make sure that we did this the right way.

And we met up with them and told them about what we wanted to do.

And they said, we're in.

And we told them that the first interview would be with them.

And they were just incredible, incredible guests and told us so much about Coach Chaney on the court, off the court, stories that we had not heard before.

And our time spent with them is something that we really, really cherish.

And we continue to to stay in touch with them about this project and created an advisory board of people who we bounced ideas off of, several of whom we're going to be interviewing.

So that's the first episode, the first full episode that you're going to hear.

And like I said, our time with them is something that I know you and I both really treasure.

It was fantastic having them on, John.

And of course, I look forward to having them on more times in the future.

They're just wonderful people, great storytellers.
