E210: Jen Wood - Climbing 9a, running and mindless ARCing

Obviously it can feel a bit like hard initially if they're just like, well, this one man on YouTube says this, so I want to do that.

But yeah, normally it just brings about a good result where you're challenged and you have to think.

niche knowledge yes but it's all three of the british women who've climbed 9a all three of them skipped 8c plus

um and then yeah went back afterwards but or not i don't know actually um but do you have any thoughts as to why that might be

I just think there's less, there's less 80 pluses.

There was

like, I tried one and I didn't like it.

And that was the obvious one that was close or whatever.

And that was it.

Whereas there's more nine A's.

And it also, I think, you know, I knew the nine A would take me years.

And I thought, well, an 80 plus will take me maybe a year or a year and a half where I could have been working towards a nine A. Um, Yeah, I don't know.

It's really silly, but it just seemed like a waste of the time that I could have been using to get a 9A.

And I think a lot of that's just like the numbers appealing, isn't it?

How have we landed on a system that's in both bouldering and sport grading where we just don't like pluses? We could have just not had the plus.

Why do we have the plus in the first place? If we just had a number...

that just went on this wouldn't happen but because we have pluses
