man the weather let's talk about the weather yeah we got up there on tuesday tuesday night i think it was and it was like 90 and the whole and of course we got like the the smoke from from the canadian fires which caused everyone to to panic a little bit but race day it was like 50 degrees at the swim start

yeah the temperature well well backing up to those fires yeah we were descending into albany and they got a real car and drove the rest of the way up and my wife looks over to me and she's like, do you smell smoke? And I'm like, yeah, yeah, I do.

And thankfully, you know, we looked out the window and had known there were some air quality issues and, and yeah, there was, there was no smoke on the plane.

And I said to my husband, I said, now, keep in mind, I didn't grow up in Lake Placid, but I spent a ton of time up there because I was in the long track speed skating, which that's basically the only long track in the Northeast.

And I said to him, I'm like, those mountains there, we should be able to see very, very crystal clear, right? They're not that far away.

And they had like this deep blue tinge to them, you know, kind of like you get in the summer when it's super, super hot, except it was 47 degrees.

And then we looked it up and we're like, oh, the wildfires have made it this far south.

And at the same time, my son sent us a text picture from down here and the sky was like orange.

So I was in the crowd of like, okay, don't worry about what you can't control, but let's hope that it clears up.

I mean, I think Thursday at packet pickup, I checked and the air quality was like 150 parts per million.

But after that, I think our air quality just continued to improve and it never was really bad up there for race day.

In fact, you know, I think this was, I'd be interested to know statistically how often you get Ironman Lake Placid to happen without any rain.

We had no rain on the day, which is just a little bit of a, a little bit of a shocker for sure.

Yeah, I think this is the only time that I've personally seen it not have any rain at all, but that would be interesting.

I mean, yeah, going down the Keene descent, trying to send it close to 50 miles an hour, give or take, with gusts of wind and rain would not have been a very fun race.
