Are there dangers of...
Christi CassidyHOST
17:22
Bicycling, like you mentioned busy roads and I saw some of those bridges you went over in Colombia looked pretty scary.
Alan CheesleyGUEST
17:32
Well, that was unusual.
Alan CheesleyGUEST
17:33
That was an unusual trip.
Jonathan LeeHOST
1:03
But we're going to dig into doping.
Jonathan LeeHOST
1:05
We ran a huge query across every publicly reported doping case in the sports of cycling and running since 1965.
Jonathan LeeHOST
1:14
And frankly, I'm shocked.
Jonathan LeeHOST
1:15
We're going to look at that.

31 MINS LATER

Jonathan LeeHOST
32:28
Okay, last point.
Jonathan LeeHOST
32:30
We have seen, I think anybody that has looked at like endurance news, so many doping positives in the sport of running in the past handful of years.
Jonathan LeeHOST
32:40
I've seen more of them than I have with cycling.
Jonathan LeeHOST
32:42
And I wanted to get to the bottom of this.
Colin TrueHOST
15:58
I just feel like it kind of has to be an option when you're listing out the way people are using wheeled items in the outdoors now.
Colin TrueHOST
16:05
E-biking is truly a thing.
Colin TrueHOST
16:06
That is definitely the trend right now in cycling.
Colin TrueHOST
16:09
But I hope nobody takes
Larry GoldieHOST
64:17
Leif, what do you think?
Leif WhittakerHOST
64:20
Biking is the best way to stack volume while keeping things low impact, I think.
Leif WhittakerHOST
64:25
So like you said, I mean, just hammer your point home earlier on in the preparation.
Leif WhittakerHOST
64:31
If you can stack volume on the bicycle and get that base volume in without costing yourself so much fatigue on your other workouts, then that's awesome.
Jannik ChristGUEST

And I think um especially um i'm born like 93 at that time there wasn't a lot of possibilities with like phones and you know there is a saying right now if you're born between the 90s and 99th you're the last generation growing up without internet um and i think i spent a lot of time outside and i think all this uh sports being outside chase thing i don't know nature with my parents and as well my grandparents really helped me to yeah love sports I think it was always a part of my identity and how I got into cycling and endurance sports is actually started when I was like 13 or 14 um i still played handball still i think did swim lessons but not on a high or didn't really pursue it on a high level because i didn't really enjoy it that much i think i more did it for my mom but handball was something which i still continued and i had a neighbor and he became like an idol and i think a mentor in my life a bit and he was doing triathlon and i think he had a Or he had a very old aluminum TT bike-ish road bike back in the days, you know, that was 2006, 2007.
Jannik ChristGUEST
5:03
And it was way too big, but I tried it and there was a camp in the city where I grew up.
Jannik ChristGUEST
5:10
um where you could each summer in the last week of your summer holidays you could try a new sport so you know you tried i don't know what i tried there but i think golf probably and um one year i tried triathlon and i think that was when i was 13 so i tried it and i was quite good in swimming because i did it a lot um and then uh Biking, I kind of was good as well because where I was living at, I had to ride to the next bus station to get to school.
Jannik ChristGUEST
5:39
And that was like every day, like 7, 8K.
Jannik ChristGUEST
5:42
And then when you wanted to see your friends, you had to do it as well.
Erik ÅkessonHOST
48:14
before she got back to normal again.
Erik ÅkessonHOST
48:17
And from the bottom here, it was about three weeks until Swedish Championships in E-Cycling, where I believe she did pretty good.
Erik ÅkessonHOST
48:31
Because her notes in the races before was like, yeah, I don't recognize myself and I feel tired and I don't know.
Erik ÅkessonHOST
48:43
And what I believe was wrong is it was a bit too much intensity for a very long period.
Amy CorfelliHOST
54:23
I have to give up all the hobbies that I love.
Amy CorfelliHOST
54:25
Biking has become very hard because the vibrations of the bike caused me a trigger.
Amy CorfelliHOST
54:30
Painting has become impossible because, you know, even with the basically the beekeeper suit I wear, I wear like a mask and gloves and all that.
Amy CorfelliHOST
54:39
I still have a reaction to the paint.
KatrinHOST
1:20

KatrinHOST

I always had aspirations to grow my kind of experience and role beyond purely just that commercial remit.
Darren HenryGUEST
0:18
And I actually find in developing British Cycling Ventures, which is probably worth giving you some context to, that actually, yeah, it was more than just a commercial role and remit.
Darren HenryGUEST
0:32
So Yeah, the context being that actually we had established that to be able to grow the business and to be able to deliver the events and to the scale and ambition that we aspired to, that actually that was going to rely on other forms of income beyond just purely commercial income as well.
Darren HenryGUEST
0:55
And actually a big part of that was strategic kind of investment So which is a big a big part of it and therefore setting up a separate vehicle to be able to allow us to to do that and attract that form of investment meant that we've been able to do that.
Matt WoodHOST
1:59
Has that changed since you've moved into more of a general role?
Darren HenryGUEST
2:04
Absolutely not.
Darren HenryGUEST
2:05
Because I think the change is now taking the organization and certainly British Cycling Ventures on a commercial journey.
Darren HenryGUEST
2:15
So the reality is, and I've worked, as you pointed out, numerous sporting rights orders organizations where the commerciality probably is quite different by its very nature.
Ben BrownHOST
31:16
you
Nate FlaimGUEST
31:16
know, and, um, Cycling helps me just do one thing for myself.
Ben BrownHOST
31:22
Yeah.
Nate FlaimGUEST
31:23
To decompress, to think through scenarios, to I responded poorly to this or I wasn't there enough for that chef or I could have spent more time teaching them this thing, you know, and you go through because you're just on the road and half the time anymore.
