So I think it's a really good place to start to think about what regulation actually is.

And I don't know about you, but I was sold this idea in life that at some point, if I do enough self-help or yoga, or if I read enough books, do enough therapy, I'm going to reach this point in my life where there is no hardship, There's no, I never get angry.

And I, for one, hope that I continue to grow and evolve forever and so I think to understand what regulation really means we need to look at the brain and we need to understand that what we're regulating is our energy levels and so really regulation means our ability to feel safe and connected to our experiences.

And so it isn't, there's nothing bad about having higher energy or having lower energy.

It really is about whether or not it matches what we need in that moment and how safe we feel in it.
