Bit of news before we get into the reviews, and this was a really fucking bizarre story.
I don't really know how this has happened, but a couple of days ago, it just sort of popped up on the internet that Eros, the long, sort of mythical, shelved Deftones album that they were working on prior to the unfortunate death of Chi Chang, their former bassist, of course...
That was then famously shelved, and they went on to make diamond eyes and everything they've made since.
Long being said that they're probably never going to release it, really, out of the blue, it seems to, again, I'm not entirely sure how legitimate it is, but the response everyone seems to have had is that it seems to be somewhat legitimate, just emerged on the internet.
And it wasn't up for long It was up for maybe a few hours And then presumably Death Tone's team Who do not seem to be behind this Cracked down on it and it's long gone again But Eros very briefly for a couple of hours Was out there I did not listen to it Both out of a sort of I saw it and was like I don't feel the need to rush to hear this thing That they didn't want out in the world I suppose And then if I had had a change of heart later Obviously it was vanquished and gone So I can't comment at all On the music that was actually on This upload supposedly of Eros But really fucking random thing to see On like a Tuesday or whatever it was
It feels like as soon as people stop clamouring for it, something like this happens.
I won't pretend on my part that it's not some moral crusade or monk-like abstinence.
I know Smile and there was another song called Dallas floating around and they were like those are the only two that are done.
It's a bit of a weird one because the band have, over time, more and more gone, probably never going to release that.
And now that this has happened, it feels like that's been reduced from near zero to absolute zero.
