Millions of us watch The Traitors convinced we’d spot the liars. But would we really? This week, we’re joined by Jack Butler, finalist on BBC’s The Traitors Series 4, to discover why Britain is so…
I think weighing in on the first part of the question about why we love it so much, I was thinking about this actually, because you're absolutely right.
You know, some of the longer standing shows, maybe I won't name drop, but you can just see that the interest fizzles out over time.
I'd actually say the viewership is either steady or climbing pretty much every season.
It
just so addictive.
I agree.
My question, I... read this right Amol Rajan he was like the second person out of Celebrity Chasers I think yeah I've forgotten anyway he said this and I wonder if you agree with it the viewer the audience is godlike in knowing everything and we get to kind of see all the mistakes that contestants make and know more than they do and I think we just sit at home and we just love that vantage point do you know what I mean we love we're the
but i wanted to you you've seen it both sides that's why i wanted to that's why i wanted to chat to you you were a viewer presumably before then you've been on the inside and now you're back out the
crazy thing the crazy thing is right so after experiencing it for so prior to actually being on the show i was a typical viewer just as anyone else that watches it screaming at the tv when people vote for the wrong person or why did how did they not tell that they were traded from this slip up about because as you say we're as Amarajan said we're almost godlike we see we're privy to everything that lots of players aren't we have context and hear conversations other players don't then I experienced it myself and thought actually it's so much harder when you're there because there's lots of conversations you miss out on you're super distracted you're in a bit of a traitor's bubble it's easy to miss things and then I came back home and proceeded to go straight back to the whole like how How can he not tell he's a traitor? It's just so easy to slip into that.
That's why I really think, well, I hope, and I don't know this by the way, so I'm not confirming anything, but what I would love to see in season five of Civilian Traitors, and I don't know how to pull it off, but something where the viewers lose their power.
