Thorin and YamatoCannon break down Cloud9's loss to Team Liquid in the LCS playoffs, the Demacia Cup field, the Asian Games splitting esports off in 2027, and Deft planning a comeback after military…
Okay, let's get into it then, because one thing I'll always point out on this show is I actually think it's really slimy when fans want to take, like, one episode of a talk show and be like, hey, you said this, and then nothing happened.
It's like, yeah, but the whole point of a talk show is, in good faith, we have to only go off that week's information.
And if I just did the whole thing a fan does like that, of like, oh, well, actually, I know it's weekend.
14 of the year, Yamato, but none of the results matter because it's not Worlds, is it? So it gives a shit.
It's a pretty bad torture at that point in time, isn't it? You have to be really granular and you have to make an individual win important and you have to make an individual loss.
It's just the end and then you have to just see over the weeks because by definition, we're trying to do hot takes that are coming quick on the heels of things.
We can't just sit back and chill and let it all play out and then go oh so that's how it played out like i'll even say this even though i get it we all do it one of the things that's really unfair about internet culture when it comes to like replies and comments on the internet is how many people will themselves sit there and think about a point you just made so say you said something i think that guy's top three but it's just an offhand comment you know they'll sit there and work out well who could it be you can have fake and then rookie they could have this And then they'll think for 10 minutes and then they'll go, you idiot.
It's this person.
It goes, yeah, but I didn't have 10 minutes to sit and think it up, did I? To say it like instantly.
So even though I get that we all do it, that's an element of media.
So the point is, this is why when last episode, which was only a few days ago, just because of scheduling, when we had that discussion about the aforementioned victory over Lyon, it's why we picked up all the good things about cloud nine this is why playoff league of legends and playoff esports is so interesting because a lot of the things that were better in the lion series and a lot of things that did look like progress you could say there was either a mini regression in this series or those other things that didn't show up to play like actually that as you pointed out earlier You were very fair on the last episode.
Even though I said it looked like tactical off that, like, cocky game where he did keep his trigger discipline the whole time.
It looked like he didn't make the classic tactical.
You dive in and go, he made up for it in this game.
It's still in the locker.
You've got to understand that is still always a possibility.
There's always a greater than zero chance that he will do something like that.
Go for the play.
Also, similarly...
the macro looked way better in that game four if that was the masterpiece this was the disaster piece bro so give me some thoughts in that sense like obviously a bit of a bummer that's it you want even if you lose it you'll say you want to lose because it's like we both played like at our full max level and then they just better in this one you lose and you also feel like ah we sort of we up the last game don't we
yeah uh for sure uh something that um like i talked about the last episode was just TL as a team, I think that they have a very, very strong foundation for how they play.
I think that they have a strong collective that at the same time makes them a little bit inflexible, even though I think that they improved on that in the opening games, game one and two against us.
In scrims, when we always practiced against TL, it was always like game one and two were harder than the later games because you have these compositions that they really like to play, that they execute super well.
And then it becomes harder and harder to piece that together the deeper you go into Fearless.
And I felt like that was true.
