Exodus 13

So the title of my message this morning is Remember Never to Forget.

Remember to never forget.

This morning, as we go deeper into the captivating world of the book of Exodus, particularly in the chapter 13 that we have just read, we are looking at a fascinating tale of liberation and consecration.

Now in that chapter, you will discover that the Israelites who were freshly freed from Pharaoh's grip were instructed by God to sanctify their firstborn son and firstborn of every offspring, both of man and of beast to him.

This was to serve as a strong reminder of their deliverance from Egypt, where the firstborn of the Egyptians were utterly destroyed.

And as they journeyed on, guided by a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night, they were commanded to remember this time each year with a feast of unleavened bread.

This was meant to be a celebration of freedom, a celebration of a testimony of their faith.

And this is the full picture of that chapter 13 of the book of Exodus.

It is an experience of liberation, an experience of faith, and the power of remembrance.
