We are on our penultimate week of our Heroes of Faith series. This week Nick talks to us from Joshua 2:1-14
Joshua chose two men as spies and sent them from their camp at Acacia with these instructions: "Go across the river and find out as much as you can about the whole region, especially about the town of Jericho." The two spies left the Israelite camp at Acacia and went to Jericho, where they decided to spend the night at the house of an innkeeper named Rahab.
Right.
Let's stop that there.
I need...
You ready for this? I need somebody to find and bring to me...
I wonder what I'm gonna ask you.
A cowboy hat.
[laughing] A cowboy hat.
Can anybody see a cowboy hat in the h- in the room anywhere? If so, you've gotta grab it and bring it to me.
Okay.
Yeah.
Oh, look.
You didn't, you should...
You had your opportunity there and you blew it.
Thank you so much.
Well done.
Round of applause for the cowboy hat bringer.
[applauding] I think I'll wear it myself for a bit.
There we go.
Now, how many of you have seen a classic Western film? Yeah, yeah, you've seen it, haven't you? You've seen the cowboy hats.
You've seen the saloon.
You see that picture on the screen.
Do you know what I mean? Those doors that swing both ways, and the, the villain or the hero may walk through at any moment with great panache, you know? You've seen that, haven't you? And it's this kind of place which everybody who comes into town will come into the saloon at some point.
That's the way it always works, doesn't it? And the sheriff keeps an eye on there 'cause he knows that people will always come there.
