Sprite Castle 111: Side Arms

[upbeat music] Side Arms was published for the Commodore 64 in 1987 by Capcom.

It is a game for one or two players, that's simultaneous two players, that uses joystick and keyboard controls.

Now, this game was published in the United States by Capcom, right? The, uh, history of Capcom, I don't think I've...

Maybe I did on the Commando episode, but it's been years, so we'll just touch a little bit on Capcom.

Capcom was a Japanese, is a Japanese video game company.

The company's roots date all the way back to 1979.

The name Capcom came about in 1983.

It is short for Capsule Computer.

Not really sure what a capsule computer...

I guess a capsule computer is a Capcom.

I guess that's what it is.

Capcom got their start making arcade games.

Some of their early popular games include Vulgus, 1942, Commando, and Ghosts 'N Goblins.

They eventually pivoted over to computer and console games.

One of their first breakout hits was, of course, Mega Man, and there have been many, many great Capcom series since then.

Of course, we've got Street Fighter II, we got Resident Evil, we got Devil May Cry, we got Monster Hunter.

There are just tons and tons and tons of great Capcom games now.

Some of the more popular Commodore 64 Capcom games included Bionic Commando.

We got Street Fighter, we got Mini Golf from Capcom, which is actually pretty fun.

We got Pocket Rockets, we got the Speed Rumbler, we got 1942, Commando, Ghosts 'N Goblins, Gun.Smoke, Tiger Road.

The list just goes on and on.

I think Commando is probably the only one that I've touched on Sprite Castle.

Now, in the UK, this was published by the European company Go.

Now, Go was a subsidiary of U.S. Gold.

U.S. Gold was founded by Geoff and Anne Brown all the way back in 1983.
