Psalm 23 is one of the Bible’s most recognized passages. It offers us assurance and safety, no matter what's going on. It’s a beautiful invitation of rest and security in God. Let’s dive deeper into…
Let me ask you a question.
What wears you out? Like there are people, life.
There are people in the room today, and as I've thought about this question more, I've realized that I think I oftentimes fit into this category where you're worn out and like, it's not like you just need a nap.
You're worn out and it's not because you watched too many episodes of that show that you've been binge watching and you just couldn't quite stop it last night.
There's people under the sound of my voice and you're worn out even though you get adequate sleep most nights.
I'm talking about how many of you are tired and it's deeper than that? Like it's a soul tired.
Like you're tired from keeping up.
You're tired from the pressures of home.
You're tired from the pressures of work.
You're tired from the pressures of relationships.
You're tired from the pressures of trying to be a parent in the modern world.
You're tired because you feel like you're alone.
Maybe you're tired because of your insecurities.
You're tired of feeling like you're always having to keep up or like you can't do good enough or you can't be good enough.
You're tired because you compare yourself in this social media age, you compare yourself to the other people around you and you're just tired.
Anybody feeling that today? Can we be honest? You're just tired and for many of us, the real problem is that we have gotten so used to being so tired that it's just become normal.
Like we don't even know what it feels like anymore, not to have just this exhaustion deep inside our souls.
And so we've learned to just live that way.
We've learned to smile tired.
We've learned to go to work tired.
We've learned to even try to have fun tired.
But if you're honest, you would say, you know what? I'm worn out.
And it goes so far beyond just not getting enough sleep.
Many of us, we're tired and what we need is we need someone to tell us that it's gonna be okay.
We need somebody who can get us off of this treadmill that we feel like we're constantly on in life.
We need someone that we can rely on and rest with and be assured that we're okay and it's going to be okay.
That's what's at the heart.
