With console prices sky high is game streaming about to take off? Do most games really need to be 60 frames-per-second? Can AI create new gameplay paradigms? A throwback episode for the Labor Day…
Shane SatterfieldHostAlright, our first question in this throwback show comes from Norix Nessie.
With all the hardware price increases that we've had this generation, it's looking like the prices for game consoles will remain high going forward.
Do you think this will provide fertile ground for game streaming to really take off? Will you consider game streaming if the next consoles cost around $1,000? Well, first of all, NorxNessie, I'll just be honest with you, I already stream games.
A lot of times when I go on Game Pass and I'm sampling something and I just want to try it out or whatever, I won't actually download it.
And I, maybe a lot of people that do my job are like, I'm not sure actually.
I know Matt hates game streaming, but I don't think Matt represents like the vast majority of people either.
I'll just say this, like the comments on Pactor Factor on YouTube over the last I don't know, like six months? I can definitely see that people are softening on game streaming.
We have people jumping in the comments now saying, like, I stream games all the time.
Do I prefer to play a game that's downloaded to a hard drive on my console? Absolutely.
So still, I would prefer to play a game downloaded to my hard drive versus just game streaming.
And here's the thing, like, we can argue... about which games or genres work with game streaming or not.
Pactor obviously brings up all the time that fast Twitch gameplay, like first-person shooters or fighting games, they don't play well online with game streaming.
