Archery Gives Missouri Students a Different Way to Compete and Build Confidence

A lot of kids obviously gravitate toward team sports, basketball, baseball, soccer.

But what does archery offer a student who might not feel comfortable in those traditional sports?

Archery gives kids a chance to actually explore a little bit a different direction of athletics.

So it's not a traditional sport.

Obviously, we're not out running, jumping, all of those things.

But it does take a lot of mental practice.

stability you know they're they're thinking about things it gives them some control it gives them um discipline, the self-confidence, it builds all of these things in the kids.

And so it's really cool to see when they walk in.

And sometimes the first time I see a kid, they're really nervous.

They don't really know what to do.

And over time, they just build that confidence where they're walking up to that line and they are shining and they're beaming every time that arrow hits the target right in the yellow where they want it to be.

It's like an amazing thing.

And you just see this transformation in kids.

So it's definitely something different and something that they can actually carry on to lifelong sport.

Colleges across Missouri are offering collegiate archery programs for kids so they can do that or they can go into bow hunting and get out there.

And I'm hoping one day somebody sitting in a deer stand and thinks about, hey, Coach Amy gave me that Genesis bow back when I was, you know, in fourth grade.

And that was like my start.
