“Patriotism And The Lord” – Rabbi Steve Weiler (06/26/2026)

So the past week I've been hearing and looking at some polls.

Not a good thing to look at.

And the polls were about patriotism.

And they divided the polls oftentimes between Democrats, Republicans, and Independents.

And one poll said the Republicans were very proud of this country, 92%.

But Republicans who are in the whatever generation it's called, the younger, younger, younger generation, what? It's one of those, you know, X, Y, I don't know what they are.

But at any rate, the Republican kids, youth, 65% were proud of this country.

That's not an amen.

That's terrible.

Independents were at 81%.

They were very proud, 81%.

But the young people who said they were independents were at 48%.

And Democrats were at 77% saying they were very proud.

And their young people were 24%.

which means three out of four young people who are Democrats are not proud of this country.

Let that sink in.

There was another poll I saw, and it said Republicans in 2001 were at 90% very proud.

The independents in 2001 were 84%, and the Democrats were 87%.

But in 2025, Republicans were actually more, in 92%.

Independents were at 53%, and Democrats were at 36%.

Now that is really hard to believe.

So if you look at it that way, probably half our country is under 50% of being proud to live in this country.

And it seems like there's a downward spiral.

But I'm going to guess that if we were to change the polling demographics, and instead of making it a political thing, make it a spiritual thing, I believe the numbers would be the same.

Meaning that if you were a strong believer, and you can have your own definitions of strong, medium, and nonexistent, but a strong believer, I believe we would see 90% of the people there patriotic.
