Ki Tavo - Shlishi

In each one of these podcasts, we read, translate, study, analyze, and discuss one of the aliyot of the current week's parasha.

My name is Yitzhak Et Shalom, and I'm delighted to be studying Parashat Ki Tavo with you this week.

And as I mentioned in the earlier podcast, this aliyah, along with the previous one and the one afterwards, are very, very short.

give us an opportunity to talk about some overall issues affecting the parasha and its place in Sefer Devarim, in the book of Devarim.

As I mentioned earlier, Parshat Kitavo is the pivot parasha between the major section that occupies the middle of Sefer Devarim, which is the Ne'um HaMitzvot, Moshe's speech in which he reviews and introduces mitzvot, which concluded at the end of the previous Aliyah with the mitzvah of Vidui Maaser, the Maaser confessional, and moves to a piece which moves us towards the end of the Torah, which is the Brit, the covenant that Moshe, between the people and HaKadosh Baruch Hu, at Arvot Moab, at the plains of Moab.

And there are several components to that Brit, which take us nearly to the end of the book, but we'll... be the rest, will comprise the rest of Parashat Kitavo.

And that Brit begins here with the third Aliyah, which begins at Pasuk Tet Zion, verse 16 of chapter 26.
