One of the other things that I've seen, you write regularly about strategy and strategy not being a buzzword.

So I believe that at the end of the day, the strategy that you build, whether it's for the whole company where it's going to go, your R&D, whether it's the strategy for business development, whether there are many types of strategies.

And at the end of the day, they all end up converging on some set of assumption and some set of compromises.

It's never going to be the ideal, right? And so if you have a really good sense of who you are, what you stand for, what are your true, true, true red lines, if you start from that position, I think you should also have the decency and the commitment to think, okay, what is my audience? What are their values? What do they expect from me if I want to serve them? And then you can do everything else, really know your stuff, all the details, do your homework, but be very much grounded in what are you trying to achieve and why.

And if you're not sure, it means that you're insisting on something that is a red herring.

Why am I doing this? And if I can't give myself a really good reason as to why, then maybe I shouldn't.
