Welcome back to the second half of Shameful Nature.
This is the part where I dive into a case that fascinates me.
One that makes me appreciate how truly normal I am.
It shows me that I'm not the monster that some in society have labeled me.
I'm the house cat people warn you about.
Step on my tail, and you'll get a hiss and maybe a swipe of my claws.
But all I really want is some snacks and a warm place to curl up and take a nap.
What people should really worry about is the lion sneaking up on you from the bushes, silent and deadly.
Now let's do what society should be doing, focusing on the lion and leaving the house cat alone.
The lion in today's episode was someone the people of Wisconsin just didn't focus on.
He had one older brother named Henry.
Like many families in the early 1900s, they were deeply religious.
Mother Augusta was always preaching about the immorality of the world and the ways the devil would use tools like drinking and women to lure people to their demise.
The passages usually concerned death, murder, and divine retribution.
You know, just your average Dick and Jane story.
My favorite was the one where Dick and Jane are running away from town as God rains down fire.
Jane looks back because she forgot her favorite sandals.
Dick says he'll buy her a new pair in the next town.
Jane doesn't listen.
Now Jane is dead.
Run, Dick, run! Okay, maybe not.
