Next, season two of Heated Rivalry is currently in production, and you may spot some familiar faces joining the cast, including Emily Hampshire, although her casting is hardly a surprise.

We're going to throw you some softball questions.

Emily, what's the name of the show? Slow Pitch.

Oh, oh, heated rivalry, yes!

Sure, Emily Hampshire's perfecting her softball for the new Crave original comedy series, Slow Pitch, but she'll soon gear up to play Vanessa, the sex columnist in Heated Rivalry, reuniting with showrunner Jacob Tierney for their fifth project together.

So it went to me.

We've been talking about these really interesting things like cast announcements lately this week.

So Heated Rivalry recently did like a cast announcement.

Of course, yeah.

Great British Bake Off did a cast announcement this week.

It's an amazing resource that Bishops gave them.

It's so, so worth it if you're writing or researching or doing anything into queer history.

You also mentioned some kind of really lovely moments where representation is kind of expanding or crossing into other realms, in particular, when you talk about heated rivalry in the book and that kind of cross section in representation of having queer neurodivergent people on screen.

And you kind of mentioned that as being a kind of a really lovely thing to see, because you don't often see those cross sections in representation as well.

A new Canadian TV show is getting a lot of buzz at TIFF.

The supernatural mystery series Yaga stars Hudson Williams, who you'll recognize from Heated Rivalry.

CTV's Adrian Gorbiel spoke to some of the actors today about the eerie new show.

The shores of Vancouver Island are playing host to a new Made in Canada production.

Letterkenny co-star Clark Backo.

A missing poster.

And Hudson Williams whose stardom skyrocketed following the success of Heated Rivalry.

Three of the Canadian co-stars sat down with CTV News to discuss the eight-part series that they filmed in just 32 days.

So the bookish community has a huge cultural influence at this point.

Sarah J. Moss's A Court of Thorns and Roses, Colleen Hoover's It Ends With Us, and Rachel Reed's Heated Rivalry, like you mentioned, all got a big boost from BookTok.

Yeah.

Which obviously worked out very well from them.

Mm.

In one of the montages, there was footage from Heated Rivalry, even though the show is ineligible for Emmy Awards.

But clearly that's how big a footprint it left, uh, on the last year of streaming and television, because they actually had a clip in the montage.

And then, of course, there was the tribute to, um, Catherine O'Hara, which was really, really sweet, 'cause they put up, um, three of her screen children.

I would really like to be Canadian.

Well, here in Canada, we all know heated rivalry wasn't eligible for Emmy consideration because it was made here.

Like, that's a bad thing?

This show is a global phenomenon that deserves some Emmy love.

And it turns out Liz may have started a movement on the red carpet.

Go, Lizzy.

We're basically making up a petition for heated rivalry to be nominated here at the Emmys.

I feel like it's like a, like, it's the difference between, like, like a short-term dating relationship and a long-term [laughs] meaningful relationship, right? Like, it's like even, like, the heated ri- I feel like Heated Rivalry is maybe, like, the closest thing we've had s- like, recently.

Yeah.

Where people have really, like, come together and created a new fandom.

Created a new fan- It sparks fast and then dies.

You know?

Well, I, the thing that I think was the most surprising about Heated Rivalry is the length of time it survived beyond the, the episodes still actively being released.

Mm-hmm.

I don't know.

I don't know what percentage of the audience has watched Heated Rivalry, but the way when he's on screen, it's just kind of his attitude and stuff reminds me a little bit of Ilya from Heated Rivalry.
