But for... you know i think endometriosis is having a really big moment on social media specifically right now and there's a lot of kind of talk on the symptoms but we're going to talk today kind of about the behind the scenes important factors of endometriosis care specifically coding and so can you kind of shed some light on how you became interested or aware that this was a potential area that needed improvement

yeah, you know, and then I was kind of you know, feel very frustrated because endometriosis surgery can be very, very difficult at times and can be very risky because it's a benign condition.

But, you know, the risk of the surgery for severe endometriosis is, you know, just as bad, if not worse than oncologic surgery.

I mean, it's actually much more complex because the, you know, doing severe endometriosis, stage four endometriosis, you know, with involvement of bowel, bladder, urethra, and so on is much worse than most of the oncological surgery nowadays because most of the oncology cases are benign, you know, stage one, two, endometrial cancer, which is like a chip shot for most people in these days, right? so and so it's you know so for the surgery for the mutual surgery it's uh there's only one code for enemy oh

yeah so whether you do ablation that takes seconds or you do a complete like perimeterectomy excision of the rectal vaginal metriosis that's the same code for all of

As the academic surgeons, you know, a lot of times we are basically rewarded by the RVUs we generate.

But when you do surgery that has no RVUs, that means you get zero credit, zero credit for the hours of work being put in, right? And your chairman or your division director will come tell you that, you know, Dr.

Lee or Dr. T-Bone that you just, you know, what, what happened to your RVUs? You know, we've been hiring you to do this job and you didn't generate RVUs for us, you know, and you need to, we need to be able to answer that.

So hoping that my, my participation with the ACAP coding committee would help to change, change the, the, the coding.
