[whooshing sound] First up, after sparking an ecological disaster, a powerful tycoon tries to save the day.
[upbeat music]
Mr. Rockwell is a man who would roast our children alive if he thought he could sell them for a dime.
[crowd cheering] [upbeat music] What would happen if I storm Greenland?
You storm, you freeze to death.
That's what.
Fuck you.
I don't care.
Go on, film away.
[upbeat music] When you officially fire me or kill me- Well- ... there's something I have to brief you on ...
I'm not going to kill you.
I have people who do that for me.
I'm joking.
Sorta.
[upbeat music] This is ridiculous.
And it's scary.
It's funny, and it's stupid.
It's a lot of fun to watch.
Um, before I get into this movie, I want to warn you, there is no way to describe the plot of this film without spoiling a few things.
So if you don't wanna know, skip ahead a few minutes, otherwise, you have been warned.
Directed by Oscar winner Alejandro Iñárritu, Digger follows Digger Rockwell, played by Oscar nominee Tom Cruise, an ultra-wealthy, fast-talking oil tycoon who triggers a global crisis when his aggressive offshore drilling in Greenland causes an explosion on his rig.
The incident dislodges a massive glacier nicknamed Judy and sends it drifting into the open ocean, threatening to take out coastal Europe.
Rather than warning the public or taking responsibility, Rockwell works alongside his head of environmental safety, Dr. Nirav Ganesh, played by Oscar winner Riz Ahmed, to contain the potential public fallout.
Rockwell goes into overdrive to scrub incriminating evidence online and manipulate political allies, including the paranoid President of the United States, played by John Goodman.
