Oswaldo Cabrera, other than Aaron Judge, I mean, he's kind of the longest tenured Yankee, been with the organization since 2016, been around for a long time.

And he really came on the scene during the latter part of the 2022 season there where we thought like, hey, maybe we got something here, a switch hitter.

infield up we could play almost every position except catch it and get only a small amount of games in 44 games they hit 247 six home runs that showed all right some a lot of promise and he did get more playing time after that uh but he just never really took off and just looked at you know when the yankees finally didn't get more playing time in 2023 played almost three times as more games 115 games uh but had a lower batting average of 211 and actually one less home run so just take a snap back at this again In 44 games in 2022, hit 247 with six home runs.

So it hit 30 points worse and had one less home run with actually playing almost three times as more games there.

And then, of course, you know, early on in the 2025 season, when he seemingly might have had a bit of a shot of holding on to the, at least maybe getting most of the starts at third base there with, you know, DJ LeMay, who floundered before they eventually caught him.

And in this the opportunities weren't going to be any more he kind of got thrown to the back burner there of course you know the Yankees were kind of flirting around some other guys for the minor league system of course he had to hold Peraza versus Volpe fight there for the shortstop job and obviously you know Oswaldo Cabrera was always kind of in the background ultimately went to Volpe and then eventually you know Peraza gets DFA'd ends up with the Angels and now he's kind of been actually doing pretty well with the Angels there so you know luckily he found a home there but This is going to be a home for Cabrera.

Now, look, it would have been great if it worked out because you get a switch hitter that can play multiple decisions outfield and infield.

And just whatever reason, that just never really just came to fruition with the Yankees.

What do we do with this guy with Schmidt coming off the IL? Had to make room on the 40-man roster.

It's just... what are you gonna do give him yet another shot there so this didn't make sense much as fans liked him he always has that nice smile there and just maybe again i think that more the personality anything was maybe kept him around for a little bit longer than your average joe would have been there but nevertheless have to make the move in order to make room for clark schmidt uh who can contribute you know we've seen him do in multiple ways for the yankees whether it's gonna be at a long relief maybe um spot starter once in a while.

We know he can start and obviously was on a bit of a good run there before going down with the Tommy John surgery.
