Listener sentiment
Listeners remain overwhelmingly positive about Seaweed Brain, consistently describing it as the go-to Percy Jackson podcast for anyone in the Riordanverse fandom. Hosts Erica and Carter are praised for their chemistry, humor, and a critical-fandom lens that goes deeper than typical recap shows — multiple reviewers say the podcast reshaped how they read the books, and several credit it with converting them into first-time readers. The show's signature fixation on whether Percabeth is the greatest love story ever told lands as a beloved running hook, and listeners frequently use the review space to share their own ship rankings, underscoring how engaged the audience is. Guest appearances are a recurring highlight, particularly interviews with TV cast members like Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, and Dior Goodjohn, alongside the show's expanding coverage of the Disney+ series. The most common recurring complaint is a technical one: multiple reviewers report that episodes around The Sea of Monsters and The Mark of Athena have become unavailable or failed to load, disrupting their listening progress. A smaller number of listeners push back on the hosts' opinions about specific characters and ships — notably Jason Grace, Calypso, and the Solangelo pairing — though these disagreements read as passionate fandom debate rather than genuine dissatisfaction.
