Was Joseph Smith a prophet, or was he a lunatic or a fraud? There is no dispute regarding the facts of the life and work of Joseph Smith. There is no disagreement as to what he did. Only disagreement…
He either was a deceiver or he was a lunatic or he was what he said he was, a prophet of God.
Why not just leave him alone? Why not just ignore him, his cause, and his church? Why? Because he taught the truth.
Was Joseph Smith a prophet? Or was he a lunatic or a fraud? I'm Larry Corbridge, and this is episode 31 of Stand Forever.
In the past episodes, we considered evidence and reason in support of what I have called the primary questions, including these four questions.
First, is there a God who is our Father? Second, is Jesus Christ his Son, the Redeemer of the world? Today, we turn our attention to the third question, which is, was Joseph Smith a prophet? Again, I say that the divine method of learning, meaning revelation from God by the power of the Holy Ghost, is the most definitive, enduring, and important method of learning by far.
Reason or analysis, however, does play a role as well and is the context in which we are now considering the primary question.
