Cascadia Sailing: Building a Race-Ready Team, with Joy Dahlgren & Chris Wolfe

Hello, everybody.

Today on Sail Faster, we're talking about preparing for a major one-design regatta.

Nothing particularly unusual about that, except that this campaign came with a few added complications.

For starters, what happens when you have the only one-design boat of its kind on the West Coast, but the regatta is on the other side of the continent? And how do you bring together 11 sailors who have never raced together before with very different sailing backgrounds and turn them into a highly competitive team? And along the way, we'll talk about what transfers from offshore sailing to round the cans, the shift from double-handed to fully crewed sailing, and how you identify and close any skill gaps you might have in a new team.

So to talk about all of that, we have Joy Dalgren and Chris Wolfe from Cascadia Sailing, which is a Pacific Northwest team spanning the US and Canada formed to campaign an IC37 at the inaugural New York Yacht Club International Women's Championship in September 2026.
