first, talking with Derek Johnson, we've talked about it multiple times on the podcast, the fight between the federal government.

He was Postal Service and State Election Committee, State Election Boards, Secretaries of State fighting about the ballots in this upcoming election.

And I want to say put finality on it, but I don't know that that's the right term there.
For this election cycle leading up to the 2026 midterms, any sort of realistic chance of USPS imposing these new regulations, which would create state citizenship lists and a new ballot barcode tracking system and all these other things, the administration is not going to be able to put that in place immediately.
We can get a lot of explanation in the Supreme Court decision, but it appears that these two of the justices that sided in the majority believe that the rule could ultimately be legal and within the USPS's statutory authority.
But it's just too close to the 2026 elections to justify putting them in place now will cause chaos.
And so they really made that argument more on a timing grounds, whereas the rest of the justices essentially said that, but this was unlikely to succeed on America.

Yeah, that was really something that was striking, striking, but also I think something that might have been inevitable at this point just because of linear time.

And the fact that in several states, I think North Carolina might be one that the mail-in ballots have already been out.
Maybe if you talk to and this is what election officials and states have put in legal briefs that I mean, the timeline set out to put this in place before the 2026 election are important.
That was what a whistleblower at the USPS said when they reported that the administration was really rushing, trying to rush through this rule, that they were imposing deadlines that were impossible to meet without having some serious effect on mail-in ballots, how quickly they moved through the system.

For people that haven't read up on it, give people the double effect of what that was a little bit.
