It sounds like a productivity episode. It isn't. Everything changes, all the time; what you know is perishable, and so is what you've built. The scarce resource isn't time — everyone gets the same…
So let me talk about what's in your way.
The most important thing is the thing that everybody says all the time.
The only constant is change.
You know, everything changes all the time.
The world is moving.
And for you as a human being...
A lot of this is about knowledge and skill and experience.
And so first, let me say, you absolutely don't know everything.
You don't even know as much as you think you know.
And the more you know, the more you know you don't know.
And you've got to accept that.
So number one, you don't know enough.
And number two, everything you do know is perishable.
Absolutely everything requires practice.
If you don't do it, that thing goes away.
And that means playing jarts on the lawn.
It means playing the piano.
It means programming.
It means driving.
It means talking to other human beings.
It means accepting other people's viewpoints.
Every possible thing you can do, if you're not getting better at it by doing it, you're getting worse at it.
So... perishability has two versions and that means you as a human being have two jobs because you got to overcome both of them the self version is your knowledge and skills it's the thing i just said the world is moving things are better How do you drive right now? But now there's electric cars.
That's different.
