This Week: Sam is joined by Jessi of Cerebral Wind to play the fakeOS horror game last seen online, which you can play here: https://lastseenonline.com/ Next Week: We actually start Enchanted Arms!…
So, uh, I knew nothing about this game diving into it.
No.
And I didn't write a history of it or, or anything.
I did read a couple cool things, uh, afterwards, so we can ta- uh, talk about that.
But, uh, I'm... we're just gonna dive in the way that I just dived into the game.
So, uh, in this game, you find an old PC at a garage sale, and you decide to turn it on and see what's inside.
And when you turn on the computer, you have to guess the user's password or you can't get in at all.
But piecing together clues from her lock screen, you can determine what it would be and get in.
There, you can see four, uh, only four icons on the desktop.
You have Buddy List, the LuzAmp player, Otherworld, and pics4m.zip.
The zip file is packwer- password protected, but a playlist and a photo help you crack the code and discover that inside there are several more pictures and a text file diary.
In the diary, the user talks about how they are spending more and more time on the computer, and that they've met some new friends via online gaming.
And then there's a long series of entries about a classmate that passed away, and the user admits that they barely knew them, but it was really, really affecting.
Someone who's usually there is now just gone.
They speak, uh, at length about their relationship with their mom, who resents the user for, quote, "Ruining her beauty by being born." And she calls the user a criminal for riding with a friend to visit her classmate's grave.
They say that they stayed after school to vent about this incident with their new online friend, which helped, but their mom called the cops and reported them missing since they were home so late, and then she told the cops that she thought that, uh, the l- user was doing drugs and should be arrested.
The next entry is marked over a week later, and the user says that they ran away from home and stayed with their friend M, who...
And eventually, M's mom called their mom, and they had a heart-to-heart with her.
Mom says that it's hard to do all of this alone and that she doesn't know what she's doing sometimes, and the user can tell that her mom really loves her, and the good times that they have to- uh, together are really nice.
But mostly, the user just can't understand their mom, and she can't understand why she just says the meanest shit sometimes.
Another month passes by before the user posts another update.
She says that her mom is away from home, so she skipped class to talk with her online friends, and they've been getting really close to, uh, to them lately.
They've been sharing favorite horror mangas and looking up serial killer stories, and their online friend introduced them to their friend Scott, and the user says that they're planning on visiting them soon.
And then on Halloween, the final entry says, "I don't want to leave this world if you're not by my side." So you close out of the text file and you decide to open up the buddy list, and as soon as you log in, you get a message from the online friend asking if this is Liz.
