**What if postpartum recovery wasn't something to rush through—but a sacred period of rest, nourishment, and rebuilding?**
In this episode, I sit down with **Elizabeth Swamy**, Ayurvedic Doctor, Ayurvedic Doula, yoga teacher, and founder of **Vedic Wild Ayurveda**, to explore the ancient wisdom of **Ayurvedic postpartum care** and what it can teach us about supporting mothers after birth.
In a culture that often celebrates "bouncing back," Ayurveda offers a very different perspective: **slow down, rest deeply, eat nourishing foods, stay warm, and allow the body and nervous system the time they need to recover.**
Elizabeth shares how her own difficult postpartum experience after the birth of her daughter transformed her understanding of maternal care. Receiving support from a fellow Ayurvedic practitioner became a pivotal part of her recovery—and ultimately inspired her to provide that same level of nurturing care to other mothers.
We explore the Ayurvedic understanding of the postpartum period, why food is so central to recovery, the importance of warmth and grounding, and how seemingly simple acts of care can have a profound impact on a mother's physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
We also talk about something modern culture frequently overlooks: **the mother needs mothering, too.**
Whether you're expecting, newly postpartum, supporting someone who has recently given birth, or simply curious about Ayurveda and women's health, this conversation offers a beautiful perspective on what recovery can look like when we honor the body's natural rhythms instead of fighting them.
