Four boys. One dead body. Zero adult supervision. What could possibly go wrong? This week on *Rewind Rethink*, Saj and Alice revisit *Stand by Me*, the 1986 coming-of-age classic that apparently many…
All right.
So it's about four boys in the 50s.
They're all 12 and they go on an adventure in summer before their school starts.
They go to find this dead body that one of the kids heard about from his older brothers who were a bit dodgy.
So they go to find this kid that's been missing in hopes of getting some sort of accolades or, you know, getting some positivity from it, getting in the newspapers.
So they think they're kind of like heroes and adventurers.
And it's really about the boys' relationships, the boys' lives individually.
And I think it's like a coming of age film.
Would you say? Yeah.
Yeah.
I think that's, that's, that's really it.
It's about finding the body and then what they do at the end and, and how friendships are so important at that age.
Yeah.
What do you think?
Yeah, no, definitely.
It's just about an adventure really.
Yeah.
And some of the boys are dealing with some pretty heavy things in their life and it's about how they reach out to their friends for support and how they navigate those challenges, I would say.
Yeah.
