So as we come to these verses, verses 10 to verses 14, we find a deviation in this section.
the deviation, the writer of Hebrews had been speaking about Jesus Christ, the supreme high priest.
But now he leaves that topic for a short moment and he's saying there are things hard to understand.
That means deep and substantial arguments that he wants to make and there are things that must be heard these are things that must be heard by hearing ear and he understands that the hebrews have become dull of hearing in other words they've become spiritually sluggish and it's difficult because uh They need to be able to hear, to understand this, not just with their ear, but their inner ear.
And their condition that they are in will hinder them and it will make growth slow.
And he's going to deal with it.
He wants to deal with this issue of dull hearing.
So these Hebrews now, the way they are going to hear, the way which we are going to grow is connected with the way we hear.
If we don't hear, we're not going to grow.
And so...
Here we have identified that the people have grown dull.
They weren't always dull.
They were once sharp.
They were once good hearers.
Their ears had now become hard of hearing, and they'd closed their eyes to the Scriptures, especially hard and correcting Scriptures.
They'd closed their eyes, and they didn't want to be troubled by the truth.
They'd closed their eyes, and they didn't want their hearts to be pricked by anything too convicting.
We have to listen to become like him, but listen and do, listen and do.
We must be doers, not hearers only.
So also it involves us putting off our ways, putting off what we think, putting off our thoughts and and accepting the Word of God.
And some people wrongly think, oh, well, I've been a Christian for a very long time.
