Joshua Jacks and his girlfriend, 27-year-old Samantha Drummonds, had known each other for years, but had only recently started an intimate relationship.
The pair were shopping in Aldi and were buying a large amount of food for this barbecue they were planning, and some presents for Samantha's relatives.
Samantha was staying with her grandmother, 64-year-old Dollet Hill, a NHS worker, and her partner of, by all accounts, a very loving, caring relationship of many years, Denton Burke, who was 68.
So, Samantha was staying with Dollet and Denton at their house in Bermondsey, South London.
And she was staying there, the reason was because her place was currently in renovations.
Now, Dollet's daughter and Samantha's mother, Tanisha Oforia Cuffo, also known as Raquel, she was 45 and a nurse.
She had quite literally just finished the last radiotherapy session the day before our case takes place.
But there is a CCTV recording of everything pretty much appearing to be normal between Joshua and Samantha.
And this is just as they left the shop, before they went round to Dollet's house.
As the rest of the family settled in for this cosy evening together, it's reported that Joshua started an argument with his girlfriend Samantha.
An argument that Samantha did not want, but one that it seems Joshua was intent on having.
At 7.23pm that evening, Samantha had spoken to a friend on the phone and she told her, quote, "...my partner's got mental health and we are just trying to sort him out right now." We need to get him something, some medication to calm him down.
And in the background, it's reported that this friend could hear something quite ordinary.
By 9.42pm Samantha messaged, he's calm now, being around the right energy and people can really help, obviously still getting the meds.
