How to biblically fix your attention span

Now, before we dive in, I wanna say this, brain science is real.

We've actually made some really cool discoveries in the past couple decades in the area of neuroscience, and that kind of stuff is useful.

It helps tell us about God's world, his creation, how our bodies are designed to work, and we want to, in as far as we have that information, live in concert with the reality of God's creation as it is.

But I think sometimes the naturalistic assumptions that our world makes about human beings lead to Christians adopting views of the human person that ignore kind of the most important part about us.

Dopamine loops or reward pathways, all that stuff, that's, that's real.

But what I'm trying to say is it's downstream of something deeper.

You are more than just your brain.

And so when we deal with questions even as practical as, how do I help retrain my attention so I can focus better, they're not purely brain questions.

They're not purely physical questions.

Some people can have physical limitations, their ability to focus, their energy, all of that.

I'm not denying that either.

But what I'm saying is the question that is rarely asked and that Christians really need to ask themselves are, when I am running toward distraction, why am I doing that? What is the internal logic that makes me want those things? That's a real question, and that is something that the sufficient word of God speaks to.

So let's talk about three principles about attention that we learn from God's word.
