spokenly someone without a pollen allergy well it could be worse you could be having horrible nightmares about your ex-girlfriend murdering you and turning you into a monster that brings us to harry dresden in chapter 10 here of summer night now this one is specifically starting with harry dreaming about susan but then he eventually does spend some time discussing the case with bob so This is, by the way, day two.

Jim really doesn't spare us any of the details of what the reoccurring nightmare Harry's apparently been suffering is.

It's really vivid, and it's a very interesting blend of a lot of the sort of subconscious issues that Harry must still be processing.

which I think is a great way of constructing a dream because it simultaneously touches a lot of different threads in a way that does seem surreal.

So Susan's in the dream, and in the dream, part of it, she's almost pulling away from him.

But what is she pulling him towards? Well, an obvious representation of the Red Court vampires, specifically almost the ones that assaulted him during grave peril.

And that's the kind of nightmare that's sort of simple and direct and tied closely enough to the traumas that I could really understand it be reoccurring.

And it could represent a couple of different things, right? The most obvious reading of this is, okay, Harry's just had this conversation with Morgan the previous evening where Morgan pushed his buttons on purpose.

But some of the things that he was saying is that she's probably already on their team and she's just trying to convert you, blah, blah, blah.

And You throw in his guilt over not being able to help her yet and probably his fear of like, I don't know where she is.

Then you get this basic concern and fear that would turn into a nightmare due to all the stress that he's putting himself under.
