For this episode, we are heading to Austria.

Not the Austria of cliches.

Not the Austria that quietly sits on the edge of wineless.

But an Austria that is becoming more precise, more confident, in many ways, more relevant.

There are regions in the wine world that speak loudly, and then there are regions that don't need to.

Leidelberg is one of them.

Leiderberg is one hour driving distance southeast of Vienna, close to the Hungarian border.

Leiderberg is one of the oldest wine-growing regions in the world.

It is located on the Bergenland side of the Litha Range.

This is a place shaped by limestone, by wind, but also by restraint.

A place where wines are not built on power, but on structure and tension, and most importantly on clarity.

And if you look closely, you start to realize something.

This style of wine might actually be exactly what the modern drinker is looking for.

As famous German philosopher Johann Wolfgang von Goethe is said to have put it, life is too short to drink bad wine.

And Goethe himself described Esterházy as celebration, as a fairytale kingdom.

For all this, I'm joined today by Wolfken Hewa, winery director at Esterhazy, a historic estate with deep roots in the region, but also a clear vision of where it wants to go next.

And to start this conversation, I want to understand one thing.

A name like Esterhazy is just extraordinary.

Emperors, composer, Joseph Haydn, by the way.

Centuries.

But it doesn't feel like the brand speaks so lightly that the wine itself struggles to be heard.

Hesterhazy has a very strong reputation and brand recognition in certain rooms in London, Munich, Zurich and Tokyo.

But I'm wondering if it's still punch below its weight, particularly in North America and elsewhere outside Europe.
