Mani BerenjiGuestYangHostLet's talk about opportunities to jump in.
Do you feel like that geography based on all the people that you've interacted actually makes a difference in kind of triggering your entrepreneurial spirit, so to speak? And you know, compared to some of the other colleagues that you've seen at conferences around the country who practice medicine in institutions? Do you feel like just being in the environment, because I feel smarter a lot of times, like I feel smarter right now because I'm with smart people.
Is there just the energy kind of translates?
Large academic centers, lots of research, a lot of people just thinking critically versus more of the kind of day to day, like this is my job, kind of go through the grind.
So if anyone who's listening to this and you're thinking about, you know, how do I dive into tech? All academic centers should have some kind of tech transfer center.
know hours away from where dr yang and dr berenji is and still we have conversations like we're sitting in the same room so i think just even going to conferences meeting people and connecting that way i know a lot of people who have built teams and not even geographically centered in the same city like we need to be before there's so many opportunities out there even if you're not working at a local academic center maybe getting in touch with their local academic center to see you know as a physician how can you help or as a technology person or a business person they often have technology spin outs nobody's willing to jump on like the researchers, they're like, I don't want to, you know, do the business part.

I mean, whether it's WashU or here at UC Irvine, you know, we're very fortunate to be able to have a center of excellence for being able to build up this entrepreneurial track, both within the School of Medicine and with our counterparts in the School of Engineering and the School of Business.
