Explore how gut health affects your mind, body, and spiritual well-being in this eye-opening episode. Get ready to connect the dots between digestion, mental clarity, and faith—no hype, just honest…
Okay, so let's start off with something fascinating.
I mean, I think it's pretty fascinating.
[laughs] Maybe you guys might not, but I think it's pretty cool, um, is that your gut is often called your second brain, and that's not just a catchy phrase.
Right.
It actually has its own nervous system, which is constantly communicating with your brain.
So it's not just digestion happening down there.
It's signaling, responding, and influencing how you feel in real time.
Exactly.
Your gut and your brain are in constant communication with each other all day long through what's called the gut axis, through the gut-brain axis.
Which means your gut health can influence things like mood, focus, and even your stress response, and a big piece of that is neurotransmitters like serotonin.
The gut to me is actually so cool.
I know it sounds really weird, but honestly, the more I learn about our bodies, the more I kinda fall in love with Jesus.
Like, just to think about how he created us, and he created us with these, with this body, and everything in our body is just connected with one another.
That is so amazing to me, especially when it comes to the gut and the brain and how those two are connected.
So let me ask you guys this.
Have you ever had a gut feeling? You know, when we say, like, that gut feeling, that stirring in our stomach, and then you acted on that gut feeling, and it turned out to be right.
What did that feel like in your body?
I definitely have one story that I love to share about a gut feeling, and I love it because it's one of those times where I got to look at my husband and my son and be like, "My gut was right.
I was right," and they have to admit that that happened.
[laughs] So I really do believe in following your gut and that it does work with your brain.
There's ...
So go back.
So we, we talk about how my son, uh, goes to, um, college, plays football.
And it wasn't the best weather, and let's be honest, it was, like, a couple days after Christmas.
