It was interesting because I remember, like... growing up and everybody was members and active around us but it still felt like we were even more different than the people around us um you know like we were i think more strict when it came to media and movies and all that stuff so like this is more later but like in high school uh like i would miss out on like friend hangouts and and just social events because of the movies that they are watching or for one reason or another, just like, My parents didn't feel like it was the best environment, even though it was all LDS kids and, you know, we weren't doing anything too crazy.
But there was always this little extra level of like, oh, we need to be exactly obedient when it came to like what...
the prophets and apostles had advised for like media and what the strength of youth said and like we followed things almost as strictly as possible basically um but yeah we took everything very seriously when it came to doing exactly what had been advised by church leaders
i'm sure this probably changed for you as you got older versus when you were younger but Did that feel on brand for you? Was that like, oh yeah, identify with that.
That's what we should be doing.
I totally agree with this approach.
Or were you, I mean, obviously teenagers like to rebel a little bit too, but was there any dissonance there for you growing up between how you saw what your parents were, their approach versus how maybe you thought you would do things?
I mean, like you're looking, you're always comparing yourself to like the kids around you and when you're teenage years, especially.
And so like, I mean, I'd see kids that were like successful or viewed as like really good kids, you know, in church, like people would say really good things about them.
movie or yeah but i saw it on friday night went to the
hangout yeah exactly uh and so i mean there was maybe a little bit of they were drinking
mountain dew oh
bliss the sacrament just kidding yeah
Yeah, it wasn't allowed.
it was more of a this is hard, but it's supposed to be hard kind of.
