Moreover, when persons are sick, their minister or some officer of the church should be notified that the minister, officers, and members may unite their prayers in behalf of the sick.

It is the privilege and duty of the pastor to visit the sick and to minister to their physical, mental, and spiritual warfare.

In view of the varying circumstances of the sick, the minister should use discretion in the performance of this duty.

Uh... we have, I mean, look at, there's an example here of how we don't use pastor and minister, uh, across the board in the same way, just all in the same paragraph.

You know, we talked about it last time, uh, Jared, you and I were on when we talked about marriage and how these last several chapters of the directory deal, not with elements of worship per se, but with things surrounding the ministry of the church.

And so we, we've dealt with marriage and wedding, and now we're talking about this, this, uh, necessary pastoral duty of visitation of the sick uh i'm assuming this has been around for a while right i don't know if you've got the numbers in front of you but um i would think this was a part of the original westminster directory to some degree

yeah um 1645 there's actually a long section on visitation of the sick this is probably why we have it in there and it's not an appendix or not just um advice that's rendered that's 381 years ago that's

You think of Calvin's Company of Pastors, if anybody's ever read that book before, talks about how he and the pastors in that city that basically were a presbytery would devise different plans of how to go visit the sick.

which was something that you had to plan for when you had the plague coming through and figuring out what are some good practices even when the plague comes through in order to avoid getting sick.

I think that's part of what the very end there, you know, discretion about how it is that that's going to happen.

You have some accounts of pastors outside of windows sometimes talking to people.

But yeah, part of the reason that's a long answer to say it goes all the way back to the original 1645 Directory for Worship.

Reading, by the way, out of my newly rebound ESV large print thin line, our good friend Dave Dalfino over at Share Here Bibles, not a sponsor, but we talk about him enough at this point, don't we? He's recently become a friend, and we appreciate him so much.

uh really good work if you need something rebound go give go give dave your uh your business but um uh oh where where is it where is it where is it
