Is Congress Too Old?

You know, I worked in the House and Senate, especially in the Senate, for, for many years, and, you know, it looks like there's something in the water there because there's a lot of old people in the Senate and in the House, and they seem to be doing pretty good most of the time.

I didn't really notice this, though, until after, you know, several years working in the Senate, and one day, it just hit me.

I just noticed all of a sudden, everywhere I looked, there were orthopedic shoes.

People who I didn't even think were old are wearing orthopedic shoes.

I mean, orthopedic shoes have come a long way, I think, because I couldn't notice it right away.

But you definitely, if you look closely, can see age, um, in the Senate and in the House, and that is old age.

But I will say before, you know, I turn it over to you to, to talk about whether or not this is a problem, I- last November, I saw Paul McCartney in Atlanta, and he was 83 years old, and, I mean, he rocked.

He brought down the house, Lee.

Yeah.

Should, should we be concerned about that? I mean, I'm ...

It's pretty remarkable, if you ask me.

Um, I certainly couldn't have done it, setting aside the fact that I don't play musical instruments.

Yeah.

Well, it, it ...

Yeah, I mean, it is true.

Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, the, the Rolling Stones are still touring.

I, I don't know.

Maybe it's something about being a musician that, that keeps you sharp.

I mean, last time I checked, Willie's still out there.

Yeah.

Well, yeah.

Sure is.

Uh, but, you know, the, the, uh ...

The House and the Senate are getting pretty old.

The mean age of a senator is, like, 65.
