One question to start with, a question to ask yourself and to be honest with yourself is, are you consistently always more interested in good news when it comes to other people or bad news? And if you read the news, watch the news, open a newspaper, go on a website, go on social media, you'll see that in general, people love bad news.
And a negative news story or even more so a divisive news story will get 10 times as many comments as a positive one.
And I just went on One News website, looked at the headlines and the number of comments underneath.
So headline was e-bikes are to be fitted with number plates to rein in rogue cyclists.
that's a good thing i think we can all agree 130 comments on that one we're living longer than ever life expectancy is on the rise well that that's a lovely good thing isn't it 180 comments You get to maybe a little bit more negative.
um so there's something in us as as humans that often likes to hear something negative uh particularly about others you know the kind of information that people kind of hide behind their hands or that they they lower their voices to tell you and you know i'll put my hand up i've i've been there i've had situations where something's been told to me and I've felt in me whether I like it or not some kind of satisfaction about getting this kind of information about someone else and it's an impulse that I think we all have sometimes to some degrees and it's an impulse within ourselves that we should absolutely resist and fight against but really what I wanted to look at today is I could say... how do we treat the sinner? Or more accurately, how do we treat and how do we react to the one who stumbles maybe or the one who isn't right in that moment? And to be clear, I'm not just talking about people outside the fold of God.
