Tim Riley's Path to Farming3:19 – 14:29

B

BevHost

3:19

Well, first of all, I should say congratulations on your nomination for Regenerative Farmer of the Year, which is...

B

BevHost

3:26

You're smiling.

B

BevHost

3:28

Can you not believe it? How long have you been into the regen stuff?

T

3:32

Well, I'm, I'm very, very flattered by it, I think, and surprised, because it's not something I would normally kind of engage with, because we just get on and do it.

B

BevHost

3:42

Yeah.

T

3:42

Um, but I...

T

3:44

Yeah, I guess we got a probably, a story that increasingly may, might be worth sharing.

T

3:51

It's just more about helping other people, not about we're outstanding or anything, 'cause I, I certainly don't think that.

T

3:58

I think we've just got a particular niche that now is getting traction.

B

BevHost

4:04

Mm-hmm.

T

4:04

Um, and it never really started out as regenerative farming.

T

4:08

I mean, I, you know, I still...

T

4:12

I mean, I, I, I put that as a description of h- what we do, but I think that's, we piggybacked the phrase because-

B

BevHost

4:20

Sure

T

4:20

... that is probably the clearest thing to what we've been doing for 35 years.

T

4:24

And that's, that's just about, I suppose, my, my mission-

B

BevHost

4:30

Mm-hmm

T

4:30

... um, which is that I always wanted a farm.

T

4:35

Um, and-

B

BevHost

4:35

So, so t- so tell me how it started.

B

BevHost

4:37

So you didn't come from a farming background.

T

4:39

Well, I-

B

BevHost

4:40

But you've got all sorts of strings to your bow

T

4:42

... yeah, yeah.

T

4:43

I did and I didn't.
