I, I had said yesterday on the show that they were considering bringing him back, and he was taking PFPs at Petco, and they were talking about how, well, maybe he's better as a reliever.
So assuming that that is going to be his role, and they're not gonna all of a sudden be like, "Oh, we should start him game one," what is really going to be his usage? Not that we expect to use every single name on this list the entirety of the playoffs, but notably, uh, Wandy Rodriguez.
Michael King, Nick Pivetta, and Robbie Ray, um, Walker Buehler, those will probably ...
We only need three starting pitchers, so is Robbie Ray or Buehler up for the third game? Is one gonna be used as a relief? Like, we don't need them, so I'm guessing that Musgrove's going to be a, well, only if a game is way up or way down, he comes in to just give us that feel-good Petco going hype, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.
That being said, it is a playoff series, and sometimes you need what you need.
And to take guys out who have at least been pitching this season in exchange for a guy who we all want back, but I just, I don't know.
I'm still very cautious about actually trusting Joe Musgrove's arm in any sense.
That being said, I do believe sometimes in the esoteric sort of, uh, momentum, uh, can't really tangibly, quantifiably write it down on a piece of paper side of baseball.
And I think having Joe Musgrove back in the clubhouse could be something that just helps feed into the vibes.
But nonetheless, you know, it, it's gonna be a decision that if we lose this series, will be picked apart a million times over.
