If you've left it until just before race day to make a plan, well, do you know what? That's better than nothing.

You've got the right number of grams of carbs, milligrams of sodium, the amount of fluid.

Some of these things will vary on the day depending on temperature, but a lot of them won't.

So try and start to practice this as far out from race day as you possibly can, because I genuinely mean this when I say it.

And so getting the right amount of carbs and the right amounts of fluid and the right concentration of electrolytes in that fluid, I think is as important to success, especially I'm on race day.

Now, it's especially important to think about this, given these heat spells we've had recently.

And in fact, reading the news, Ironman France was cancelled, Germany was shortened because of these extreme heat events.

You know, it's an incredibly difficult challenge, no matter what the temperature is.

But when it gets up into the 40 degrees centigrade, and from our American listeners, that's going to be 110 degrees Fahrenheit plus.

it does become life-threateningly hot just to stay alive, let alone trying to exercise in that heat.
look at it through that point of view.
